About Us Work for us Work for us Thank you for your interest in working for the Ouseburn Trust. We are currently recruiting for two posts (please click on the link to jump to the job information): Programme Manager (Heritage activity and initiatives) Project Officer (Natural Environment, Open Spaces) 22.5 hours/wk Programme Manager (Heritage activity and initiatives) We want to preserve, research and share the heritage of the Ouseburn Valley as the heart of what makes this place special. Our heritage is in the buildings, the industries, the landscape and the lives and stories of the people who have lived, worked and played here. All these make a place special and unique and develop a sense of connection and belonging. This is a key role for our heritage-led regeneration Trust, with a responsibility for preserving, celebrating and growing our heritage offer, and engaging more people with it. Both our Victoria Tunnel Coordinator (who is retiring) and our Heritage Officer (who is moving away) have left big boots to fill. The Trust is taking this unique opportunity to combine both of these roles to bring a cohesive structure to the heritage offer. The right candidate will take on the responsibility for managing the award-winning Victoria Tunnel, our heritage walks and talks programmes, our photographic and oral history collections, volunteer research projects and support with other initiatives such as Hadrian’s Wall celebrations, Valley heritage interpretation signage and other opportunities as they arise. We couldn’t do the work we do without the dedication of our volunteers, so integral to this role will be the support of our volunteer team. The job pack is available here. This includes approximately 5.4ha of public access open space, of which around 3.9ha is woodland, out of an area of approx. 100 hectares. The River Ouseburn also flows for 800 m here. We want the Lower Ouseburn Valley’s woodlands, open spaces and river to be integrated with its community, economy and leisure activities. Following a review of our strategic objectives, the Ouseburn Trust has confirmed its commitment to the natural environment of the lower Ouseburn Valley and the role the Trust wish to play in shaping it for the benefit of those who live, work and visit Ouseburn.
