Horsepower, the evolution of the horse in the Lower Ouseburn Valley

The walk follows how "horsepower" evolved from the reliance of horse drawn wagons and chain horses, through the arrival of the “iron horses", and the adoption of cars and lorries in the 20th century, to the last remaining commercial uses of horses and how they are now predominantly part of the leisure industry. Led by John Emslie. Meet at Stepney Bank Stables, Stepney Bank, NE1 2NP, ends the bandstand under the Railway Viaduct.

Tuesday 2 August 5.30pm

What's Next for the Ouseburn?

A look around future development sites and buildings with the Ouseburn Trust’s Planning and Development Group. Led by Dale Bolland and John Cornhill. Meet at the Ouseburn Trust offices.
