A fantastic August Bank Holiday event for cyclists and spectators.

The iconic Ouseburn Valley Cross is back for 2017. August Bank Holiday Monday (28th August 2017) will see the return of the closed road cycling event in the Ouseburn Valley. This year it will be bigger and better, with more opportunities to get involved, more to do and better vantage points for spectating.

Check out our promotional film and you can enjoy cycling the route from the comfort of your chair!

Races will take place between 11am and 6pm for under 10’s through novice racing to some of the regions best and most experienced racing cyclists. Entries are now live here on the British Cycling website for those who want to have a go.

At 12 noon there will be a guided ride for beginners and those who would like the opportunity to ride the closed road and off road circuit.

There will be commentary provided for the racing by the Cyclocross scene’s infamous John Davidson, using chip timing to offer live position updates throughout the events.

Ouseburn Central CarPark (which we know as McPhee’s Yard) on Foundry Lane will host the signing on area for the riders taking part in races and rides, plus Rollapaluza static bike racing against the clock and a skills track for riders to test their skills. See what it’s like at Rollapaluza.com

There will be a range of local food stalls, not to mention Ouseburn’s amazing existing venues like the Farm, The Ship and The Cluny who will all be open for food and drinks, and offering some of their own superb locations for spectating. Ouseburn Coffee are also going to create a pop up grandstand café too for that VIP feel.

There will be bike related finery, last minute spares and repairs offered by the Cycle Hub, Saddle Skedaddle and Vieri Velo.

The running of this event is made possible by Go Smarter and we will be looking to promote sustainable transport choices for those attending the event. Download the new Go Smarter app and earn rewards for making smarter transport choices in and around Newcastle.
