Archived: 24 days of Advent - Christmas in the Victoria Tunnel

To add to our exciting winter events programme we are offering visitors the chance to experience some ‘Christmas spirit’ in the safest place in Newcastle: the Victoria Tunnel.

Find out what the festive season was like during the second world war for the people using the tunnel to shelter during the long bombing raids, the importance of celebrating Christmas during the conflict, and the sort of gifts and food you could be expecting. 

These half-hour tours on Tuesday 4 December are free of charge but advance booking is essential - please choose your time in the calendar below. The tour will start and finish at the Victoria Tunnel Entrance on Ouse Street (behind the Hotel du Vin)
