The Ouseburn Trust is holding its first Heritage Spotlight event on Wednesday, 27 June from 6pm to 7.30pm at Saint Ann’s Church (City Road-Breamish Street, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 6PY). You cordially are invited to attend this event and bring a friend.

We want people with an interest in the Lower Ouseburn Valley heritage, whether it is related to the Valley’s industrial heritage, its vibrant contemporary culture, the Victoria Tunnel, or the allusive World Heritage that runs through the Valley, to come together.

The event will

  • provide a taster of heritage related activities that are ongoing in the Valley through a series of short presentations;
  • give people a change to network and share heritage related interest in the Valley; and
  • highlight the Trust’s effort to cultivate heritage activities in the Valley.

Ideally, we want to create heritage links and expand heritage activities in the Valley.

Please let us know you are attending by booking on the calendar below so we have an idea regarding refreshments.

The format of the event is a short introduction and then a series of three-minute (spotlight) talks about Valley heritage followed by a summary talk and then networking over light refreshments. Presentations will include

Saint Ann’s 250th Anniversary celebration — Rev. Allan Mark
Protecting and recording the archaeology of the Lower Ouseburn Valley — Jennifer Morrison
Geography’s place in the Ouseburn — Liz Cowans
Do you have tunnel vision to guide people into the underworld? — Kelly Thompson
Family History in the Ouseburn — Sue Bright
