Santy 1942

A Canny Christmas down the Coal Hole

*Limited tickets, trial event*

Come and experience a Christmas day 'air raid' with its wartime residents in the award winning Victoria Tunnel... the worst voted air raid shelter in Britain.

Then once the 'all clear' is sounded, join us in our 1940's style tea room for a very special ration tea party (and perhaps even a glass of black market sherry) with Victoria Tunnel guide Basil; who remembers his time spent in the Victoria Tunnel during the war years in the Victoria Tunnel as a small boy.

Originally built as a Victorian coal wagon way, this remarkable grade 2 listed structure was then used as an air raid shelter for up to 9000 Newcastle residents during WW2.

A Canny Christmas down the Coal Hole.
