making it

making it_ was a programme the Ouseburn Trust delivered in partnership with Culture Works, People Into Enterprise and Conversations With Purpose. It was funded by ERDF and WNF via Newcastle City Council’s Enterprise Package.

It was aimed at recent graduates looking to set up a social enterprise in the area. The programme was broken up into three sections and participants were able to attend one or all of the sections:

  • Festival of Ideas

  • Opportunities Workshops

  • Activate – this section consists of 8 workshops and one-to-one mentoring delivered over a three month period

We successfully deliver a second cycle of the making it_ programme and have successfully delivered 3 full cohorts with many new social enterprises in progress.

The making it_ website is still a useful resource for those interested in social enterprises and creative industries.

Mai, shown here with 36 Lime Street Studios in the background, is one of the many participants to bring their creative enterprise ideas to the making it_ programme,

“The ‘making_it’ and ‘activate’ programme has been a great confidence builder and has allowed me to oepn my practice to much needed guidance, support and networking opportunities from my peers in the creative sector. It has been an excellent experience and I feel very luck and priviledged to have been given a place to develop my arts into a community practice and business.”
